About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our interdisciplinary team. The PMHNP will provide clinical assessments and ongoing treatment to individuals served by a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). This role primarily supports adults with serious mental health diagnoses, substance use disorders, and co-morbid medical conditions.
The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with Program Directors and the Clinical Director to deliver trauma-informed and culturally competent care, promoting the recovery goals of our clients.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric assessments and evaluations, including up to 12-14 follow-ups or 4-6 initial evaluations per day.
- Prescribe, monitor, and administer psychotropic medications, adhering to best practices.
- Complete Buprenorphine training and obtain a waiver to prescribe.
- Educate clients on medication side effects and monitor their response to prescribed treatments.
- Provide crisis intervention services during business hours and consultation during off-hours.
- Participate in clinical case conferences, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Communicate with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene regarding Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) cases.
- Assess and monitor clients’ physical health as part of integrated care.
- Complete all clinical documentation using the Electronic Health Record system.
- Coordinate care with families and other community treatment providers, including hospitals, housing providers, and criminal justice personnel.
- Ensure services are trauma-informed, culturally competent, and person-centered.
Qualifications:
- Current license to practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in New York State.
- Board certification as a PMHNP.
- Current DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.
- ANCC certification or pending application.
- NYS OPRA status approved or pending application and a Health Commerce Account established prior to employment.
- Experience working with individuals with serious mental health diagnoses and co-occurring substance use disorders.
- Bilingual Spanish is highly desired.
Work Schedule:
On-site, Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Key Details:
- Average daily patient flow: No more than 15 clients per day, including a mix of initial psychiatric evaluations and ongoing care.
- Staff mix on-site: Two psychiatrists and one other PMHNP.
- Open to new graduate PMHNPs with RN experience.
